Hearst Castle Preservation Foundation Benefit Weekend

Our current goal is to fund the restoration of a 16^th Century Spanish Painted Wood Ceiling in need of urgent repair.

This project is budgeted at $250,000.

This bedroom ceiling is located in the North Wing of the Castle and is the first room you encounter on the second floor of the North Wing. It impactfully sets the stage for guests’ impressions of the striking difference between the North Wing and the main house.

Treatment Proposal

Secure paint cleavage.
Consolidate insect tunneling in wood panels.
Remove tobacco accretions, dirt, grime and dust layers.
Apply a protective surface coating.
Inpaint selective losses.
Apply a final surface coating, if necessary.
